What does Screen Test mean?

Screen Test refers to a filmed audition where an actor performs scenes in front of a camera to assess how they appear on screen. A screen test is often used to determine whether an actor is suitable for a particular role based on their performance, appearance, and ability to connect with the camera. Screen tests are commonly conducted for leading or major supporting roles in films and TV shows, helping producers and directors visualize how the actor will fit into the final product. The lighting, camera angles, and wardrobe may be adjusted to mimic the actual shooting conditions.

Example:An actor performs a screen test for the lead role in a movie, allowing the director to see how they look and perform on camera before making a casting decision.
Example: A casting director arranges a screen test for several actors, filming them in different lighting conditions to evaluate their on-screen presence for a TV role.
