What does Talent Coordinator mean?

Talent Coordinator is a production crew member who manages the practical logistics of cast on a film, television, or commercial production — distinct from a casting director (who selects talent) and a talent agent (who represents performers). The talent coordinator handles scheduling, travel arrangements, accommodation, and on-set logistics for performers. On large productions, the talent coordinator works under the production coordinator and serves as the primary administrative contact for cast and their representatives regarding day-to-day production logistics. On smaller productions, these functions may be absorbed by the 2nd AD or production coordinator.

Example:The talent coordinator sent the child actor’s family a comprehensive pre-production packet — including call times, parking instructions, set address, wardrobe fitting schedule, and contact numbers for all key production personnel they would need during filming.
Example: When the child actor’s agent called to confirm travel arrangements for the out-of-town shoot, the talent coordinator had all the details ready — flights, hotel, and ground transportation — and followed up with a written confirmation to avoid any miscommunication.

The talent coordinator role has grown in importance as productions have become more complex and the volume of cast management logistics has expanded. On major studio productions with dozens of principal performers, multiple shooting units, and international locations, the talent coordinator function can require an entire team. The role requires not just organizational skill but the interpersonal sensitivity to manage the sometimes delicate relationships between performers, their representatives, and the production — a combination that makes experienced talent coordinators highly valued in the industry.
