What does Sound Design mean?

Sound Design refers to the process of creating the audio elements of a film, TV show, or theatrical production, including dialogue, sound effects, and music. Sound designers are responsible for ensuring that all audio components work together to enhance the storytelling and emotional impact of the production. This includes recording and editing sound effects, mixing dialogue, and sometimes composing original music. In film, terms like Foley often come up, referring to the creation of everyday sound effects that are added in post-production.

Example:A sound designer creates atmospheric sound effects for a horror movie, using distorted sounds to build tension and fear in key scenes.
Example: In a TV drama, the sound designer carefully mixes dialogue and background noise to ensure the actors’ performances are clear and impactful.
