What does Lee Strasberg mean?
Lee Strasberg was an American acting teacher and director who became the most influential figure in the development of Method Acting as it is practiced in the United States. As artistic director of the Actors Studio in New York from 1951, Strasberg refined and systematized his interpretation of Stanislavski’s techniques — particularly affective memory — into the approach known as the Method. His students included Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, and Marilyn Monroe, among many others. Strasberg’s approach has been both enormously influential and significantly controversial, particularly regarding his use of emotional recall with performers.
