What does Camera-Ready mean?

Camera-Ready refers to an actor or set that is fully prepared to be filmed. For actors, this means their hair, makeup, and wardrobe are completed, and they are ready to perform on camera. For sets, this means the props, lighting, and other visual elements are in place and ready for filming. The term is commonly used to indicate that all preparations are complete, and filming can begin. Related terms include Blocking, which refers to rehearsing the actors’ movements, and Stand-In, a performer used in place of the main actor during technical preparations.

Example:The actor was declared camera-ready after the hair and makeup team finished their final touch-ups.
Example: Once the set was camera-ready, the crew began filming the next scene with all the elements in place.
