What does Blocking mean?

Blocking refers to the precise staging and movement of actors on set or on stage, ensuring that their movements are coordinated with the camera angles, lighting, and other elements of the scene. In theater and film, blocking is often determined by the director and is designed to help tell the story visually while ensuring that all the technical aspects of production, such as lighting and sound, are optimized. Blocking rehearsals allow actors to memorize their marks and cues, ensuring smooth and consistent performances.
