What does W/N (Will Notify) mean?
W/N (Will Notify) is a call sheet abbreviation used to indicate that an actor or crew member has not yet been given a confirmed call time for the following day and will be notified later — typically once the production has a clearer picture of the shooting schedule. W/N is most commonly used when a day’s filming runs long or the schedule shifts, making it impossible to confirm exact call times in advance. Actors and crew listed as W/N should remain available and check in with the production for their updated call time.
Example:The assistant director listed several background actors as W/N on the next day’s call sheet, explaining that the company move to the new location would not be confirmed until the current day’s filming wrapped — at which point individual call times would be texted out.
Example: The child actor’s call time was listed as W/N on Thursday’s call sheet, so her parents stayed in close contact with the production coordinator throughout Wednesday evening until the confirmed call time came through at 9 p.m.
Did you know?
For parents of child actors, a W/N notification requires particular attention. Because minors have strict legal limits on how early they can be called to set and how many hours they can work, a late call time confirmation can compress preparation time significantly. Experienced parents keep school arrangements, meal schedules, and transportation flexible on any day listed as W/N.
