Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP)

What does Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) mean?

Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) is a national trade organization that represents production companies in the United States that specialize in producing commercials for advertising agencies and brands. The AICP sets industry standards for commercial production, negotiates agreements with unions including SAG-AFTRA, and advocates on behalf of its member production companies. For actors, the AICP’s agreements with SAG-AFTRA define the pay rates, working conditions, and residual structures for union commercial work.

Example:When negotiating a commercial contract, the talent agent confirmed that the production company was an AICP signatory, which guaranteed that SAG-AFTRA rates and working conditions would apply to the shoot.
Example: A parent reviewing her child’s first commercial contract noticed the production company was listed as an AICP member, which meant standard union protections — including overtime rules and break requirements — were in place.
