What does Cont’d (Continued) mean?

Cont’d, short for “continued,” is a term commonly used in screenwriting and production scripts to indicate that dialogue, action, or a scene will continue onto the next page. It’s typically placed at the bottom of a script page when a scene, action, or character’s dialogue does not end at the bottom of the current page, alerting readers to expect its continuation on the next. This helps maintain the flow of reading without confusion or unnecessary stops.

Example:At the bottom of a script page, the word “Cont’d” appears, signaling that the actor’s dialogue will continue on the following page.
Example: During a screenplay read-through, the writer uses “Cont’d” to ensure the reader knows that the current scene will continue on the next page without interruption.
