What does Table Read mean?

Table Read refers to a meeting where the cast and key crew members of a film, TV show, or theatrical production gather to read through the script out loud. It typically takes place during pre-production and allows the director, writers, and actors to hear the dialogue, make adjustments, and ensure the story flows well. Table reads are often the first time the entire cast meets and performs the script together. Similar terms include Rehearsal, which may involve acting out scenes rather than simply reading them aloud.

Example:The table read for the upcoming film brings together the main cast, director, and writer, giving everyone a chance to hear the dialogue and make suggestions before shooting begins.
Example: During the table read, the actors realize that some lines don’t flow naturally, prompting the writer to make revisions on the spot.
