What does Pick-Ups mean?

Pick-Ups refer to additional shots or scenes filmed after the principal photography of a production has been completed. These shots are often used to fix continuity errors, improve storytelling, or capture small details that were missed during the main shoot. Pick-ups are typically scheduled during post-production and can involve either the main cast or stand-ins, depending on the shot’s requirements. Related terms include Reshoots, where entire scenes are re-filmed, and Inserts, which are close-up shots added during editing to enhance visual details.

Example:The production team scheduled a day of pick-ups to film some additional close-ups and reaction shots that were missing from the initial shoot.
Example: Pick-ups can be essential in helping to smooth out pacing or fill in important story beats that were overlooked during principal photography.
