Local Hire

1 minute read | Last updated: 4 months ago

What does Local Hire mean?

Local Hire refers to a worker, such as an actor or crew member, who is employed by a production company but lives in or near the location where the project is being filmed. Local hires are typically responsible for their own housing and travel arrangements, unlike out-of-town hires, who may receive additional compensation for relocation. Productions often prefer local hires to reduce costs associated with accommodations and transportation.

Example:A production company films in Atlanta and hires local actors and crew members to minimize costs and avoid paying for travel and lodging.
Example: A crew member is hired as a local hire for a TV show filming in their hometown, eliminating the need for the production to provide housing.
