What does Lip-Sync mean?
Lip-Sync (short for lip synchronization) refers to the practice of matching the movement of an actor’s or performer’s lips with pre-recorded dialogue or singing. In the entertainment industry, lip-syncing is used in films, TV shows, music videos, and live performances when it’s impractical or impossible to record live audio. Actors and performers must precisely time their lip movements to the audio track to create the illusion of speaking or singing in real-time.
Example:An actor lip-syncs to pre-recorded dialogue in a film scene where the original sound quality was unusable due to background noise.
Example: A pop singer uses lip-syncing during a live concert to match their movements to a pre-recorded track for parts of their performance.
