What does Gofer mean?

Gofer is a term used in the entertainment industry to describe a production assistant or low-level crew member responsible for running errands, fetching items, and performing small, often menial tasks for the cast and crew. The term “gofer” derives from “go for,” as in “go for this” or “go for that,” emphasizing their role in assisting with whatever tasks need to be done on set. Gofers are often new to the industry and use these positions as a stepping stone to more advanced roles.
