What does Action mean?
Action is a term used on film and TV sets by the director to signal the cast and crew that filming is starting. It is usually preceded by the commands “Quiet on set” and “Rolling” (indicating that the camera is recording). Once the director calls “Action,” actors begin their performances, and all crew members operate their respective equipment.
Example:During a scene in a busy marketplace, the director shouts “Action,” and the actors, along with extras, begin moving and interacting as scripted.
Example: The director waits until the camera operator confirms they are recording, then calls “Action” to start the scene.
