What does Deal Memo mean?

Deal Memo refers to a written summary of the key terms and conditions agreed upon between a production company and talent or crew before the final contract is signed. The deal memo outlines important details such as payment, job responsibilities, start and end dates, and any special provisions. While not a legally binding contract on its own, a deal memo serves as a preliminary agreement and ensures that both parties are on the same page before formalizing the deal.

Example:An actor signs a deal memo outlining their compensation, role details, and shooting schedule before the final contract is drafted.
Example: A production assistant agrees to the terms laid out in a deal memo, including their day rate and start date, before signing the full contract.
