Conflict Check

1 minute read | Last updated: 6 months ago

What does Conflict Check mean?

Conflict Check refers to the process used by casting directors, talent agents, or production companies to ensure that an actor, model, or other talent has no prior obligations or contractual conflicts with other projects, especially those involving competing brands or industries. A conflict check helps prevent legal and contractual issues that could arise if a performer represents two competing products or is otherwise unavailable due to prior commitments.

Example:A casting director runs a conflict check before hiring an actor for a soft drink commercial, making sure the actor hasn’t appeared in a competing brand’s ad.
Example: A talent agent performs a conflict check to verify that a model isn’t contracted to another brand before signing a deal for a new campaign.
