What does Cast-Contingent mean?

Cast-Contingent refers to a film or TV production whose financing or distribution is dependent on securing specific actors for key roles. If the agreed-upon actors are not available or willing to participate, the production may be canceled or lose its funding. Cast-contingent deals are often made when a project relies on the star power of certain actors to attract investors or audiences. Related terms include Green Light, which refers to the official approval to begin production, and Pre-Sales, which involves selling distribution rights before the film is completed based on cast attachments.

Example:The film was cast-contingent, meaning it would only go into production if the lead actor signed on to the project.
Example: Many independent films are cast-contingent, relying on well-known actors to attract financing and distribution deals.
