What does Callback mean?

Callback refers to the second or subsequent round of auditions where the casting director, producers, or director request that certain actors return to audition again. Callbacks are typically used to further narrow down the pool of actors being considered for a role. This stage often includes additional scenes, further direction from the casting team, or chemistry reads with other actors.

Example:After a strong initial audition, an actor receives a callback to read for the role of the lead character with different scene material.
Example: The callback session for a major film project allows the director to see how the actors interact in pairs for key relationship scenes.
