What does Audition mean?

Audition refers to the process by which actors perform a piece, often a prepared monologue or scene, to demonstrate their skills and suitability for a specific role. Auditions can be held for theater, film, television, commercials, or other types of performance-based projects. During an audition, the casting director, director, or producer may ask the actor to read lines, improvise, or take direction to assess their versatility and fit for the role.

Example:An actor prepares a monologue for an audition in hopes of landing a role in an upcoming stage play.
Example: A casting director invites actors to audition for a commercial by reading a short script and showing their on-camera presence.
