What does Limited Time (Usage) mean?

Limited Time refers to usage rights granted for a specified period. In contracts, this term indicates that the performance, image, or intellectual property can only be used for the agreed-upon time frame, such as 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years. After this period, the contract may require renewal or additional compensation to continue usage. Limited time usage is common in advertising and entertainment contracts, allowing performers to maintain control over their work and renegotiate terms after the initial period expires.

Example:An actor agreed to a contract with limited time usage for a commercial, which allowed the company to use their performance for one year before renegotiation.
Example: A photographer licensed their work for a limited time of two years, after which the client had to either renew the contract or stop using the images.
